Privacy policy
Last updated 11 October 2026
This policy explains how Can't Do It Yourself (“we”, “us”) uses the personal information you give us through this website. We are the data controller for that information.
What we collect
When you send an enquiry, we collect your name, phone number, email address, postcode and the details you give us about your project. We also receive basic technical information (such as your IP address) needed to deliver the website securely.
How we use it
- To respond to your enquiry, arrange a site visit and prepare a quote (lawful basis: steps taken at your request before entering into a contract).
- To carry out and invoice work you have asked us to do (lawful basis: contract).
- To meet legal obligations, such as tax records and certification (lawful basis: legal obligation).
We do not sell your information, and we do not send marketing unless you have asked us to.
Cookies and analytics
This site works without non-essential cookies. If we use analytics, those cookies are only set if you click “Accept” on the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
Who we share it with
We use trusted service providers to run this website and handle enquiries, including our hosting provider (Cloudflare) and the tools we use to receive and manage enquiries. They process data only on our instructions.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that don’t lead to work are deleted after 12 months. Records of work carried out are kept for as long as the law requires (typically six years for financial records).
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or object to how we use it. If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
